Mantrailing

Training dogs to find people!

Mantrailing is where our dogs use their nose to find a specific person.  It is performed professionally in search & rescue teams, the police & the military but has taken off as a fun dog activity with pet dogs as a way to enrich their lives.

All dogs have a natural nose ability & the ability to trail, we tap into this skill & teach our dogs that following the trail of a specific person is a super fun game.

  • Provides a fun physical & mental workout for your dog

  • Suitable for all breeds & ages of dog

  • The perfect teamwork activity for building relationships

  • Suited to nervous/sensitive/reactive dogs (dogs work individually & all training is tailored to suit)

  • Builds confidence as dogs learn the game

  • Great exercise for you - no running involved & suitable for all abilities

  • Meet ups can also be a fun social activity for dog lovers

  • No previous training required

  • Dogs trail on a harness & line (no off-lead work)

  • Dogs rest in cars between turns.

Introduction Workshops

Aimed at total beginners this workshop teaches the foundation skills of trailing & handling using the same methods used by many search & rescue organisations.  This includes a pre-recorded theory presentation to watch prior to your practical workshop.

Training Sessions

Follow up session for those who have completed an Introduction. Continue to progress & develop your skills whether for fun or aiming to work towards assessments.  Sessions have a maximum of 4 dog/handler teams & are booked as a standalone training session which you can book as often as you like.  Locations will vary & there may be a mixture of different abilities within each class, so it is a fantastic learning opportunity to observe as well as trail.
